Speed, Agility, Conditioning

SAC

TOTAL FOCUS SPEED, AGILITY, CONDITIONING is the signature Athlete Development Program (ADP) for field sport athletes (soccer, lacrosse, football, field hockey, baseball, etc). looking get fast, stay fast, and beat the competition.

Not to be confused with traditional ‘Speed Camps’, this program lasts longer than several sessions. Athletes commit long term for maximal improvements that transfer to their sport. Each workout is instructive, fast paced, and lasts 45-60 minutes. The goal isn’t to run you into the ground.. any coach or parent with a whistle can do that. We want athletes to get in, work hard, and stay focused.

Training sessions are more than mindless cone and agility ladder drills. This program progresses from posture and sprint position to high level jump and speed training. Sessions concentrate on proper sprint position and the execution of movements resulting in increased speed. We tackle straight ahead speed (linear) and COG (change of direction). Athletes learn body weight exercises that correlate directly to enhancing their performance.

Each athlete, prior to acceptance, completes an Athleticism Assessment. Movement efficiency and performance potential is evaluated to determine strengths and where we need to improve. Records are kept to monitor progress and motivate athletes to better their scores. Don’t sweat the evaluation, it’s not pass or fail. You’re competing against yourself and nobody else.

Today’s athlete is measured by their speed, ability to change direction, first step quickness, and ability to overpower the competition. Athletes need to seek these qualities if they have hopes of competing… at any level.

All TOTAL FOCUS SPEED, AGILITY, CONDITIONING sessions take place inside the newly constructed Southpointe Fieldhouse (SPFH). The SPFH is a 45,000 square foot indoor turf field… it’s huge. To my knowledge, it’s the only facility in the greater Pittsburgh area that has painted lines for regulation soccer and lacrosse competition.

NOTE: While sessions at SPFH concentrate on developing speed, agility, and conditioning, strength training is an integral component to the program. Workouts include resistance training with body-weight exercises, sled dragging/pushing, medicine ball drills, and other modes of strength development.
